Zhengping was born on the northeast plain of China, renowned as the granary of the nation and famous for its fertile black soils. In 2013, he immigrated with his parents to Alberta. The magnificent view of Canadian Prairies inspired his interest in agriculture. Driven by a passion, he committed himself to contributing to the advancement of agriculture, aiding farmers in solving challenges and ensuring food security for the expanding population. With enthusiasm, he actively engaged in agricultural research in Alberta and Manitoba before settling down in Saskatchewan.

Zhengping received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta, which provided him a solid foundation in molecular genetics. Following that, he pursued a Master’s degree at the same university, specializing in disease-resistant Canola breeding through genetic and molecular analysis. After graduation, he took on the position of field breeding assistant at Farmers Business Network, where he cultivated, managed and took notes across expansive fields using advanced agricultural machinery.

Zhengping has been a Research Technician at GIFS since August 2023. He is interested in acquiring new techniques and delving into the mechanisms of technology. His ambition is to evolve into a versatile and adept operator, proficient in tasks ranging from using a pipette to maneuvering a tractor. He is eager to offer comprehensive technological support and execute the objectives entrusted by GIFS.
