Hakimeh Emamgholi Begli is a dedicated geneticist with a passion for advancing our understanding of animal and plant breeding and genetics.

Hakimeh completed a master’s degree in animal breeding in Iran focusing on the estimation of genetic parameters for economic traits and polymorphisms of Prolactin and PEPCK-C genes in native fowl. Following the completion of her master’s degree, Hakimeh gained invaluable industry experience at the Hatchery Company, where she honed her skills as a production and statistics expert. At the same time, she also worked as a researcher at the Animal Science Institute.

A thirst for knowledge led Hakimeh to pursue a Ph.D. at Tarbiat Modares University, where her research focused on genetic analysis of feed efficiency traits in poultry. During this time, she had the privilege of spending 10 enriching months as a visiting student and research assistant at Aarhus University in Denmark. Teaching is another avenue Hakimeh has explored, further enhancing her academic repertoire.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Guelph, Hakimeh worked on random regression ssGBLUP methodology to estimate variance components in a female line of turkeys. Her work also encompassed the development of various statistical models, gene ontology, pathway analysis and beak shape data analysis in turkeys.

Prior to joining GIFS, Hakimeh served as a Statistical Geneticist at Lohmann Breeders.
