The FCC Breeding Acceleration Program combines the following cutting-edge technologies and expertise to optimize breeding pipelines, increase the rate of genetic gain, and accelerate innovation:
- Genotype by targeted sequencing: High-throughput DNA sequencing via GIFS’ high-throughput genotyping laboratory.
- Genomic selection: Calculate Genomic Estimated Breeding Values (GEBVs) to identify top-performing lines, reduce screening, and identify optimal parental combinations with GIFS’ Data Management and Analytics Platform.
- Optimize breeding pipelines: Model breeding pipelines and simulate breeding strategies to improve genetic gain per dollar invested through GIFS’ Data Management and Analytics Platform. We deliver data and information to support breeders’ decisions in a safe, secure, auditable, and anonymous ecosystem.

Protein Industries Canada has announced a new two-year project in its Capacity Building Program with GIFS Ag Tech Enterprise Inc. and DL Seeds to develop a pea variety development database that will consolidate genetic information and data for breeders across Canada.
