Wendy joined the Root-Soil-Microbial Interactions group to work with Dr. Leon Kochian and Dr. Brian Ham to study mechanisms of long-distance mineral nutrient signaling in plants.

She previously completed a B.Sc. in cell and molecular biology from University of Calgary and a Ph.D. in plant molecular biology from Dalhousie University. For her PhD research, Wendy explored the role of E3 ligases and the ubiquitin proteasome system in plant signaling and response to changes in the environment using Arabidopsis thaliana. Prior to joining GIFS, Wendy worked in government at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and National Research Council Canada where she worked on molecular mechanisms underlying agronomic traits in Camelina sativa and wheat (Triticum aestivum).

At GIFS, Wendy is using molecular, physiological, proteomic, and genetic approaches to characterize systemic signaling factors which integrate root and shoot growth in response to changes in the environment.
