Mengying (Alex) Liu was born and raised in Shaanxi, China. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Sichuan Agricultural University and a Master’s Degree in Ornamental Plants and Horticulture from Northwest A&F University.

Alex joined GIFS in September 2018 as a PhD student. She is currently working at GIFS in Root-Soil-Microbial Interactions on microbes of canola roots.
