Ivanthi obtained her BSc in Botany from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka (2017). She started her MSc in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Saskatchewan in September 2019, under the supervision of Dr. Wei Xiao. Her project was Functional characterization and molecular cloning of Brassica napus UBC13 genes, and she completed her MSc in May 2022. She was able to receive the Dr. Rogger Rimmer Award for Excellence in Graduate Research in her postgraduate program.

In summer of 2022, Ivanthi joined GIFS as a Research Technician in Plant Biology, and previously worked in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science as a technician in Natacha Hogan’s research group.
