Renata joined GIFS as Cell Biologist in March 2020 and in June 2020, she accepted the position of Platform Lead for Cell Biology. She holds a BSc in Biology, a MSc in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Londrina State University and a Ph.D. in Genetics and Crop Breeding from Maringa State University. 

Prior to joining GIFS, she spent 11 years at Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) as a researcher scientist. In addition, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Plant Gene Expression Center in the United States Department of Agriculture, in Albany, CA.

Her experience over the years helped her develop a laboratory-to-field knowledge, including extensive experience in plant molecular biology, biotechnology and in conducting experiments in greenhouse and field conditions. Furthermore, she has experience in regulatory affairs and all required documentation by the Brazilian National Technical Biosafety Commission to carry out experiments involving GMOs, to ensure compliance in accordance with the current legislation.
