Dr. Sara Boettiger is a global thought leader with expertise in international agriculture, corporate sustainability, trade, food security, and climate.
Previously, she served as Chair of the international agricultural research organization, CIMMYT; on the advisory board of the US Export-Import Bank; as the Global Head of Sustainability and Public Affairs for Bayer Crop Science; as Deputy Director at the Gates Foundation.
She has advised 40+ national governments on policies and investments in agriculture, climate, and trade; was elected to the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Councils for six years; taught economics at UC Berkeley; and co-founded several startups. Currently she supports Chief Sustainability Officers in large companies; advises medium-sized and startup ag tech companies in growth strategy; assists philanthropic foundations in complex grant impacts; advises private equity and VC funds in sustainability investments; and serves as a board director.
Dr. Boettiger has a PhD in agricultural and resource economics from UC Berkeley and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where she gardens, fosters dogs for the local shelter, and enjoys hanging out with her grown up kids.
