GIFS CEO receives King Charles III Coronation Medal

The King Charles III Coronation Medal commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.

Dr. Steven Webb (PhD), Chief Executive Officer of the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) at the University of Saskatchewan (USask), was recently awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The medal, which was created to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III in 2023, is presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada or a Canadian province.

Webb was nominated for the medal by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which noted his partnership in contributing to a Canada of thriving business opportunities, a strong economy and a better life for all.

Webb said he’s honoured to receive this award, describing it as a testament to GIFS’ world-class team and its expanding role in delivering innovative products and services that strengthen Canada’s economy and benefit stakeholders.

“Innovation is a team sport and we live that every day at the Global Institute for Food Security,” said Webb, who returned to Canada in 2019 to lead GIFS after working for almost two decades in the United States.

“Over the past few years, and with great focus, our team has worked together to transform GIFS into agriculture’s innovation catalyst. This medal recognizes our growth and the important role of the GIFS team in building partnerships and collaborations that create business opportunities both regionally and nationally for Canada. Thank you to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for their support of our mission and their nomination for this great honour.”
