Seminar: Innovation and Impact: Case Studies in Accelerated Breeding
Join the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) at the University of Saskatchewan on October 31 (Halloween) and explore accelerated breeding strategies that help plant and livestock breeders stay ahead of the curve.
This seminar will feature researchers from the University of Guelph and Ohio State University discussing accelerated breeding success stories from both the livestock and crop sectors.
The seminar will feature both in-person and remote presentations and panels. Those in Saskatoon are encouraged to join the conversation in person at Innovation Place. A hybrid option is available to those who register as online participants.
During the program, GIFS will also provide an update on the FCC Accelerated Breeding Program at GIFS, a collaborative initiative to accelerate innovation in agriculture, driving productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability for Canadian farmers and agri-food stakeholders.

About the FCC Accelerated Breeding Program at GIFS
Accelerated breeding enables researchers to shorten the breeding cycle and increase the rate of genetic gain in crop and livestock breeding programs through the application of genomic selection, speed breeding, and modelling. GIFS has the innovative at scale technology platforms and highly skilled team to make accelerated breeding accessible to diverse organizations in both the public and private sectors. From our base in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a thriving hub of agricultural research, development, and production, we are working with partners to apply these technologies and strategies to diverse commodities and deliver market-impacting innovation to agricultural producers.
